Sobre todo,
ámense los unos a los otros profundamente,
porque el amor cubre muchísimos pecados.
We knew each other to the core, with a lucidity granted only by the abyss. We were mirror and wound, a reflection that recognizes itself and recoils in disgust. Today, at a distance, we pray to the same God with the secret certainty of being each other’s evil. We pray with trembling lips, begging for peace and for distance, while fear bows our heads. We pray with the twisted faith of the guilty. Each morning we kneel, and God, impassive, devours our heart like an apple, tearing into it from the center, gnawing it slowly, with deliberate cruelty.
